Today is…a steampunk kind of day. Tonight is the Industrial Steampunk Masquerade at Rivetz, and the creator of ImmateriA was kind enough to give me a copy of her newest outfit to blog! I’ve been naming my blog posts after songs, but this combination of outfit and skin really reminded me of the title of Arthur Koestler‘s book on the Cartesian dualist account of the mind–body relationship, “The Ghost in the Machine.” I am not going to get boring and technical, but it’s a fascinating read, and I felt it was a very appropriate post title.

The Agatha Sprockette jumpsuit and top are available at this month’s round of The Instruments, and if you are a fan of Steampunk, I really recommend getting down there and scooping this number up for yourself. It’s a daring and unique twist on Steampunk…usually women’s clothing in the genre is limited to sweeping Victorian-style dresses and sky pirate ensembles, but ImmateriA created a very adorable and playful romper and top combination that is absolutely perfect for the Steampunk lady who is looking for a cute, casual look to unwind and relax in. The texture work is lovely and the shading is very well done. I love the brocade pattern at the waist and all the little details that really make this jumper shine. Even the buttons have gears and cogs on them! You can purchase it exclusively at The Instruments for now, so pop by to score one! I paired the jumper and shirt with brown cog-printed tights from BlakOpal and a necklace from Pixel Box Designs. They have very cute gothic and steampunk accessories for low prices, so anyone on a budget should definitely check them out! My boots and cuff are both gacha items. The boots are the Pop Boots in black from GizzA and the cuff is from The Horror!’s crypto gacha. Topping all this off are very fancy Steam-Age goggles from Meshed Up. The latticework detailing on the “lenses” is incredible. They’re a really different option for anyone looking for unique Steampunk eye/head wear.

I am sure you are wondering where the “ghost” in this machine comes in. The skin I am wearing is a past Horror Haute item from Stargazer Creations called the Yurei Ghost skin set. It’s based on Japanese ghost stories and legends, and for some reason really spoke to me when I was putting my ensemble together. I adore the dramatic eye makeup (as most people who know me well will tell you, I am a sucker for amazing eye makeup!) and the opalescent grey skin tone really seemed to compliment the colours in the jumper and top. Even though it’s from a Horror Haute long past, you can still purchase it in store. It includes eight makeups, Slink and Omega appliers, and a boi version! This is definitely one spooky skin you want to get your hands on.
