Wednesday Addams: My guillotine’s busted.
Inez Thudd: “Broken,” not “busted.”
Pugsley Addams: Well, either way, we can’t make it work.
Inez Thudd: You must think positively. Keep repeating firmly to yourself, “My guillotine WILL work. My guillotine WILL work. My guillotine WILL WORK.”
~ “The Addams Family: Morticia and Gomez vs. Fester and Grandmama (#2.17)” (1966)
Wednesday Addams has always been one of my favourite TV and film characters. I absolutely adore her macabre sense of humour, her classic little black dress and braided pigtails, and of course, the fact that she’s just so…Addams! When I found the Wednesday hair at The Wizarding Fair (which has now since closed), I knew I had to make an outfit that felt like a grown-up Wednesday.
The perfect opportunity happened this past Friday when I was combing through the Fifty Linden Friday stores and Foxes had two fatpacks specially fitted for Maitreya as their offerings: amazing leather leggings and a sweater that has the most delightful spooky prints! I saw them and knew that I definitely had to use them in a blog post. The meshes are wonderful and fit my Maitreya body like a glove and I absolutely adore the textures on both pieces. The colours on the leggings range from a rusty red to a grey to classic black, and the sweater features a myriad of amazing prints with both a short and long version included in the pack. They’re both controlled by HUD, which is great because it minimizes inventory clutter. I’m wearing my favourite shitkicking boots from Reign. The Quinn boots are unrigged so they can be easily resized to fit over the leggings and the metal studs adorning the sides are texture changeable so that you can easily match them to your jewelery or accents.
As for the Wednesday hair that started it all…it’s amazing! As of this posting, you can pick it up at the Spellbound mainstore, as The Wizarding Fair has ended. With every colour pack there are two versions, one with a hat and one without. In addition, there is a moon headchain included. Both the hat (ribbon and hat itself) and headchain are colour changeable and really add gorgeous accents to the hair. Even without the hat, the hair is amazing. The style is very much a grown-up version of the iconic ‘do worn by Wednesday Addams, and is a sassy dual-braided pigtail style that will definitely add a little bit of ooky spooky to anyone’s wardrobe.
